ASMP Advocate
I survived meningococcal meningitis in 2007. In a matter of hours, I went from being a healthy, active mom to fighting for my life, given just 30 minutes to live and 2% chance of surviving.
I defied the odds, but my life was forever changed. I experienced brain damage, organ failure, and ultimately lost both of my legs. Today, I use prosthetics but live a completely normal life.
There is nothing I cannot do. It’s been a long road, but this experience has deeply shaped my perspective and strengthened my passion for helping others.
As an occupational therapist, motivational speaker, and writer, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting individuals navigating adversity and life-altering challenges. I began speaking in 2009 to share hope and encouragement with others facing difficult journeys.
Because meningitis can take a life in just 24 hours, I advocate for meningitis awareness and the vaccines that help prevent it. My passion is encouraging others to navigate change, loss, and hardship by finding hope, healing, and joy in the most difficult of circumstances.
