My son Henry was away at college when he fell ill with a very high fever. He went to the local ER where the doctor there told him he had the flu. Within 24 hours, my life became a nightmare. He had walked back to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. He had numbness and right-sided paralysis and he could not speak clearly. He had been misdiagnosed.

By the time I got to the hospital, Henry had had a seizure and was in a coma. He never regained consciousness. He was declared brain-dead.

Three days later my precious son became an organ donor.

Now I work to spread awareness about bacterial meningitis and the vaccines available to prevent this disease.

Hopefully, my work will prevent another family from living my nightmare.
