It was a hospital room as a child where I began to create art. At 9 months old, I barely survived bacterial meningitis, which left me with significant physical challenges. The disease scarred my skin and resulted in the amputation of several of my fingers, toes, and half of my right foot. Despite these obstacles, I persevered, undergoing numerous reconstructive surgeries. As I continued to navigate my physical recovery, I also pursued my passion for art. I studied Fine Arts at the Columbus College of Art and Design, honing my skills and developing my unique artistic style. Today, I proudly go by the name "PainterSam," thriving as both an artist and a social media influencer.

My artwork has garnered global recognition, featured across various media platforms such as TLC's "NY Ink" and "Angels Among Us," as well as in interviews with NBC, ABC, and Fox. I was awarded the "Mom of the Year" title for my poignant "Butterfly Portraits" series, a tribute to families who have experienced the loss of a child—a project inspired by my own heartbreaking journey after losing my newborn son. Additionally, I am deeply committed to advocating for vaccine awareness and meningococcal vaccination on an international scale. I've had the honor of testifying before esteemed bodies like the CDC, the Senate, and Congress. One of my most fulfilling accomplishments has been championing legislation to safeguard Ohio's children against bacterial meningitis and meningococcal disease. And now, I'm thrilled to see my teenage sons preparing to follow in my footsteps, poised to become advocates in their own right. I am excited to share my teenage sons are preparing for their own meningitis advocacy efforts in the future.

My collection of art encompasses a diverse range of subjects, including portraits, dog art, cityscape paintings, and other pieces that reflect her triumph over physical challenges and personal tragedies. My art serves as a testament to my resilience and the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity.
